The Pack at the Bears, these two names carry some weight when you think of Monday Night matchups of the past. The bumbling Bears and the pathetic Packers do little to excite us football fans this year. With Week 4 being devoid of any marquee matchups ABC could plug into this slot we are left with this tired old rivalry. Last week Green Bay failed to cover their number on the road at Arizona despite getting some key players back (notably D. Driver & R. Ferguson). The Bears got some much-needed rest in their early bye week. It strikes me as funny that the Bears really needed a week off after playing only two games. Their offensive line problems leave them no choice but to start Kordell Stewart tonight. Stewart needs to set his passing plays with play-action or bootlegs anything that gets him running in the backfield, he cant hang in the pocket, never could. Chicago’s defense needs to have a big game and keep Farve off the field then maybe their inconsistent offensive unit will have a chance. Brett Farve has a good offensive line and they should have no problem providing him with ample time to pick apart Chicago’s mediocre secondary. Green Bay swept the series last year (SU & ATS) by a combined score of 64-41 and has won 9 consecutive in Chicago. The Packers are 5-0 ATS the last 5 times they faced the Bears and are 7-1 ATS their last 8 Monday night matchups. Chicago is 4-0 ATS the last 4 times as a dog off a bye. I do not see a Packer defense being overwhelmed by a Bear offense with no major playmakers and therefore I will back the Pack. Although I am not thrilled about laying more than a field goal to the Bears I will use caution when wagering and keep this to a one-unit play. Goodluck.
